A fittingly brilliant ending to a wonderful series, 10/10Įver since seeing Sad Cypress for the first time 10 years ago, I have been a loyal fan of Agatha Christie: Poirot and of Agatha Christie. It takes a few minutes to warm up, but it gets better and better, the ending is remarkable. I've only watched it for the second time, I found it better then I remembered first time round. Suchet is matched by a quite remarkable performance from Aidan McArdle, a fine actor, he delivers the goods here. Hugh Fraser is superb too, Hastings, so often in Poirot's shadow is given so much more to do, arguably Fraser's finest performance. So sad to see him in his frail state, but it's of course part of the story. Those oddities are superbly brought to life, Suchet gives a captivating final performance as Poirot, he is quite captivating, packing raw emotion into the part. I have to admit to not loving the book, I feel at times Poirot is a little out of character, a little odd. It's fair to say this magical series ends with a quite brilliant adaptation of Curtain. Amazing to think it started way back in 1989, I wonder if even Suchet himself imagined it would run until 2013. Poirot signs off with a pretty incredible episode.

Muffin Man – The villain who’s scarily obsessed with Trish. Wyatt – A mysterious mall worker Nita takes a fancy to. Storm Reynolds – Trish’s sort of love interest whose behaviour is pretty questionable. Imogene – Trish’s other best friend and Nita’s studious twin sister. Nita – Trish’s obnoxious but kind best friend. Trish – Our heroine who’s being stalked by the Muffin Man! I like this cover, too – are we going to see a dead body hidden among some mannequins. I think malls are a great environment for horror, so I’m cautiously excited. Deathkins has had three chances after all, and they were just as bad as, if not worse than, RTC’s Trick or Treat! I have a growing collection of RTC books, and this one seems to be a fan favourite. What does he want? And what is the Mall’s terrible secret? But if Trish finds out, will she have to stay there for ever.?įirst impressions: I absolutely loathed the only RTC book I’ve recapped so far, but I’ve finally decided to give her another go. Then the creepy phone calls start… and Trish realizes that someone is watching her every move… Summary: Trish loves her job at the mall - until the day a weird customer comes into her shop. I thank him for doing so, and for answering my questions at the end of the event. We were introduced to the author by local film maker and artivist (and cousin to the author!), David Ng, and welcomed to the traditional, ancestral, unceded, and occupied territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations by Sḵwx̱wú7mesh council representative and activist Khelsilem. I’m glad to say I’m still not entirely sure what happened. I follow Kai Cheng’s work online already, but I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the event. On the evening of Friday, 18 th October 2019, I attended Massy Books launch of Kai Cheng Thom’s latest book I Hope We Choose Love – A Trans Girl’s Notes from the End of the World, a collection of non-fiction and short poetic pieces that together form a net of radical hope-building for a time – and it has been a long time, as rightly noted in the introduction – when all hope seems lost. They will first be asked to share their ideas on what the book might be about, based on the title and the front cover. In this first lesson, children will be introduced to the Peace at Last story. Children will use this adapted story map to write their own version of the story.Įach of the lessons in this Peace at Last Planning Pack include an easy-to-follow plan, a set of engaging slides for the teaching input, differentiated activity ideas and printable resources. They will then look at a story map of the book, and adapt it by changing the characters, the places that the character tries to sleep, and the noises that keep them awake. After becoming familiar with the Peace at Last story, children will first sequence and then retell the tale in their own words.
